Why quilting is back in style

Thanks The Times for this feature. To coincide with the V&A exhibition, Liberty is hosting a Quilty Pleasures selling show, with extravagant quilts hanging in the shop’s central atrium and wonderful window displays by Maxine Groucutt. Julie Hassan, from the haberdashery department, the show’s co-ordinator, says: “It brings together contemporary and restored quilts by designers such as Katherine May and Polly Lyster, and vintage fabric bundles by Worn and Washed. There will also be extra Liberty Sewing School classes.” May is known for her quilts made of Barbie and Action Man clothes, which is about as far removed from a church fĂȘte as you can get.
