New Season windows 2010

THROUGH A GLASS DARKLY

The latest iconic windows have been unveiled, welcoming the start of a new year of fun and floral frolics at Liberty, the ultimate emporium for all  your fashionable needs.

Maxine Groucutt, our head of visual identity has taken the enigmatic and ethereal work of Sarah Moon as her inspiration for the new scheme, with soft cascading flowers, organic forms made of paper tissue in soft dusky tones and muted florals.

“Sarah Moon has a dreamy and soft focus ethereal approach,” says Maxine of her inspiration’s aesthetic. “When I look at her photographs of women I  feel like I have stumbled into a private moment. Somehow that moment doesn’t feel awkward or uncomfortable, it’s more about witnessing something you should have seen.”

Styling is soft and feminine, with clothing courtesy of Stella McCartney - new to the Liberty womenswear collective  -  and exclusive brand Michael Van Der Ham.  There is a sexy undertone with layering from new lingerie label Bordelle, demonstrating the art of underwear as outerwear. Fashion favourites Acne, Preen and Dries Van Noten are included to compliment these delicious new arrivals. Let us know which one is your favourite.

Watch Luella’s Liberty Christmas!

Thanks to Grazia Online for covering the opening of the Liberty Luella Grotto

"OK, so we know it’s crazily early to be thinking about Christmas, but when we heard Luella was opening Liberty’s Christmas grotto this year, we were beyond excited. After all, who better than a designer known for her quintessentially British creations to open the grotto of such an iconic British store, right? Plus we're just a little bit obsessed with the girly wonders she bought to the LFW catwalk this year, which were a clear theme in Liberty’s pink and blue tinsel decorations. Luella has collaborated with the store to launch a Christmas wishlist of products to sit pride of place in the grotto, featuring all her top gift picks (check out our video to hear her favourites!). She’s also lent her creative hand to the shop’s amazing window displays, including one with a British memorabilia collection and another with a giant tinsel robin (you have to see it to believe it). So, we hurried down to Carnaby Street to have a look around, watch Luella cut the grotto ribbon and to meet the lady herself…"

Liberty Luella Christmas

Working with 2008 Designer of the Year Luella Bartley was so much fun. As children of the 70's Luella and I soon realised that we both have a love for very British traditions including the Queens speech, the Christmas day family lunch, Quality Street, carolling and our much loved red breasted Robin! So we took all these great themes and gave them a twist...the boxing day hunt is transformed into Mr Wilbur Force Huntley and his fox family enjoying Christmas at their country estate. Famous British musicians caroling on London's streets, Pantomime dames screeching 'he's behind you' and a huge tinsel robin with Googly eyes make up this years windows.

We also created a Liberty Luella grotto in the Carnaby St entrance of the store which is filled with fantastic gifts for Christmas including Luella's gift idea's.
